Video: Connecticut School Board Member Slugged On Camera Over Native American Mascots

Apparently the genius you are about to read about is really upset that his kid’s school is no longer culturally appropriating Native American history and culture.  And while I can not tell you if this man, Mark Finocchiaro, has any relation to the Proud Boys, he is certainly acting like one.

The dust-up between the parent, Mark Finocchiaro, and board secretary Ray McFall, took place during a 10-minute recess after tempers flared amid a public comment period about the Glastonbury Tomahawks name, which was changed last year to the Glastonbury Guardians. The school’s team logos were also switched from a tomahawk, which many found offensive, to a knight’s helmet.

A committee was formed to consider changing the Tomahawks name and logo in the wake of nationwide protests following the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, by a Minneapolis police officer. The choice was all-but solidified when the National Congress of American Indians subsequently contacted the board and asked that the tomahawk logo and mascot be phased out.

Finocchiaro uses a classic tactic here.  He cuts off movement by invading Mr. McFall’s space leaving not much option to reclaim territory but to shove, thus causing an obviously prepared Finocchiaro to slug Mr. McFall.  In other words, in my opinion, it looks like he was looking for any excuse to punch Mr. McFall.  It is important to point out, that the chest contact was initiated by Mr. Finocchairo.

Mark T. Finocchiaro is a resident of South Glastonbury and is a registered Republican.

On that last fact, please, do try to hold your place in your chair before falling out of it from shock..
